Dr. Debasis Chakravarty is a well-renowned orthopaedic surgeon with more than 20 years of orthopaedic experience behind him.

He has special training in joint replacement (hips, knees, elbows, shoulders) and revision arthroplasty surgery.

Dr. Chakravarty qualified from Medical College and Hospitals, under University of Calcutta in 1992. He completed his Master of Surgery (MS) in Trauma & Orthopaedics from the same University in 1996. He passed the examination making him a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) of Edinburgh in 2001. He undertook higher surgical training in Peterborough & Stamford NHS Hospital, United Kingdom during which he was awarded the FRCS (Trauma and Orthopaedics) in 2009.

He completed two pedigree fellowships:

AO Trauma Fellowship in 2007 with Professor Dr Andreas Wentzensen at the BG Unfallklinik, Ludwigshafen, a Level 1 Trauma Centre, Germany. This is one of the largest and most modern centres in Germany for the surgical treatment of the severely poly-traumatized patients. Dr. Chakravarty had wide exposure to trauma dealing mainly with poly-traumatized patients and became extremely proficient in the management of complex trauma.

Revision Arthroplasty Fellow, May 2013, Helios Endo-Klinik, Hamburg with Prof. Dr. Thorsten Gehrke with a focus on the treatment of prosthetic joint infection. The Endoklinik itself developed an unrivaled reputation for excellence in joint arthroplasty which has continued to the current day. It remains the most productive center in Europe performs more than 6000 hip and knee arthroplasties per annum. Approximately 1500 of these are revisions and up to 600 of these are for sepsis. The unit averages 30 joint replacements per day including revisions. There are about 4 septic revisions per day. During this time Dr. Chakravarty became proficient in dealing with severe deformities and bone loss in revision scenarios.
