Dr R.Krishnamoorthy is an experienced reconstructive and plastic surgeon. He is formerly Professor
and HOD at Stanley Medical College. Dr R Krishnamurthy pioneered statewide training program on
hand and microsurgery under NRHM Project. He introduced the subject “hand and Microsurgery” in
MCI PG curriculum. Dr R Krishnamoorthy is the leaderin program on state of art reconstructive
transplantation – hand. He is a post graduate examiner to many Indian universities and National
Board. He is faculty in Ethicon institute of surgical education in reconstructive microsurgery.

Formerly Professor and HOD at Stanley Medical College. Worked 20 years in a specialized centre for hand and microsurgery and plastic surgery and performed all types of surgeries on injured hand including bilateral hand replantation. Created separate speciality for HAND by the inclusion of the subject Hand and Microsurgery in PG Medical Education Regulations 2000 of MCI and enabled PG Higher speciality course in MCh – Hand and Microsurgery to be initiated in India – first of its kind in India. Chief Faculty and coordinator and organized the first ever Statewide Training Program to Promote Awareness On Hand Injury for Secondary and Primary level health care personnel get funded under NRHM innovative programme. Organised Hand Transplantation Programme – first of its kind in India and put Stanley on the world map. Post Graduate examiner for Plastic Surgery, Hand and Microsurgery. Faculty and Resource person for Microsurgery Course – Ethicon Institute of Surgical Education, Chennai.
